Our last management account was the former Singer complex of 550,000 square feet, which we managed for more that 20 years. We have been out of the management business for several years. I have been a member of the Society of Industrial Realtors (SIOR) since 1964 and the Appraisal Institute since 1968. In July of 1975, J. Baldwin Pearson died, and I purchased the company from his estate and have been the sole owner ever since. In the summer of 1982, George M. Shawah Jr. joined the firm upon graduation from college. He has been with me ever since as a broker and a real estate appraiser. We are a two-man team. Our brokerage business includes the sales and leasing of industrial and commercial properties for users and investors. Our clients, over the years, have been the local banks, attorneys, developers and a wide range of industrial and commercial owners who need our services for brokerage, financing, tax appeals, acquisitions, etc.. We belong to the Greater Bridgeport Board of Realtors including it's C.M.L.S. service, and about 60% of our time is spent in the appraisal business. Baldwin Pearson & Company, Inc., a Connecticut corporation, was
founded in 1953 by J. Baldwin Pearson. I (George M. Shawah) joined the firm in 1954.
We have always been a small company that specialized in the sale, leasing,
managing and
appraising of industrial and commercial real estate in the Greater Bridgeport area
with occasional assignments as far north as Danbury and west to Greenwich. To the east, we
also take assignments in Milford, Orange and West Haven. On occasion, we will go to
another part of the state when a regular customer has a problem.
